Ports: Administrative law related to concessions/authorizations; pilotage; stevedoring companies; administrative proceedings instituted by Port Authorities against vessels, etc. (Port State Controls), leading to ship’s detention and substantial fines. Registration of ships: both in the ordinary Registry of Spain or in the Special Registry of the Canary Islands. Building and repair contracts of ships: with its financial related issues (loans, mortgages, collateral securities, etc) Short Sea Shipping-Motorways of the Sea-Regular services (Domestic and EU regulations framing those traffics). Maritime claims, mortgages, arrests of ships: Where a precautionary arrest has been granted and implemented, can this always lead to a forced sale of the vessel? Not an easy question. Again, can a sister vessel or a vessel owned by a company managed by “A” be arrested for claims connected with a different ship, but also managed by “A” ? Contracts of carriage, voyage C/P, C.O.A., time-charters, bare-boat charters: their construction in the light of Spanish Law. Jurisdiction clauses, are they exclusively binding to the parties of a contract ? Accidents of navigation: Collisions / allisions, salvage, general average, pollution, etc Labour Law governing crew’s enrolment and related disputes. Personal injury of crewmembers, stevedores, passengers, claims, compensation, etc Litigation and arbitration, enforcement of awards/judgements in Spain. Insurance and P&I Law (topics of Hull & Machinery and P&I risks covered by Clubs); opinions on the risks to be covered and relevant provisions matching the peculiarities of each case (Institute Cargo Clauses, etc).
